Hybrid Working: Spotlight on Employee Wellbeing

Deborah Wilder, our Workplace Psychologist, is passionate about creating healthy and friendly workplaces that support wellbeing.

Here she shares her five top tips for the wellbeing of your hybrid teams.

  1. PLAN

Do you have a wellbeing strategy? If not, put one in place to support your teams, include MH first aiders, EAP, physical spaces to decompress from work and lead by example. Studies show 50% of directors have reported improved business performance from focusing on wellbeing.

  2. ENGAGE

Only 56% employees think their company execs care about their wellbeing. Engage with your teams, give employees more choice over decisions that affect them. “How can we support you?" Surveys and focus groups are a great way to engage and gain feedback.

  3. IMPLEMENT

Plan improvements based on the employee feedback, put in place regular wellbeing comms, signpost to EAP and wellbeing support that is in place, including mental health action plans and MH first aiders, include case studies. Keep listening, reviewing and improving.

  4. SUPPORT

Consider the physical health and ergonomics of your employees when they work at home as well as in the office. Do they have the right set up to maintain their physical health? Put in place guidance and training for comfortable home / remote working and provide practical support.

  5. STAY ACTIVE

Keep moving! Start with 'fake commutes' to work, lunch breaks in local parks and 'walking meetings' with teams. Research shows that regular movement and taking breaks from work can boost mood, focus and productivity, as well as improve anxiety and depression.
