Case Study: Sirona care & health - Hybrid Working Project - Completed Summer 2022

Sirona is a healthcare provider with over 100 offices and clinics across Bristol, the West and the South West. Their vision is to be the leading employer of choice regionally, attracting and retaining talent and providing a great place to work.

An extensive hybrid working programme including estates review and workplace redesign for Sirona, a healthcare provider with a head office in Bristol and other sites across the Southwest.

The challenge.

Sirona was the result of three recently merged healthcare organisations. It was undergoing a major transformation of business processes as well as needing to create a strong, unified culture. Their ways of working and their property portfolio were in most cases not suitable for hybrid working. They needed to consolidate their buildings to optimise space usage and cost effectiveness. They were also encountering recruitment, engagement and wellbeing challenges.

What we did.

The project took an end to end approach, from engagement and evaluation, design to delivery. We started with a bespoke workplace survey, senior leadership interviews, focus groups and senior leadership visioning seminars. We carried out a review and advisory of their policies and employee proposition, and a multi-office and clinic portfolio review with lease and condition assessments. We ran a workplace technology evaluation to advise them on desk and space booking software and hardware. We created workplace design blueprints with concept designs and space plans for all the required types of accommodation.

We worked alongside the HR team and Comms team to deliver the hybrid working framework, following a detailed launch and implementation plan. This included the development of workplace personas and ways of working charters, and delivering train the trainer sessions to HR business partners. Our final report included a health and wellbeing and environmental sustainability review and recommendations.

We ran the project in conjunction with our partners at Interaction, Strategic Workplace Design and Build Experts.

The result.

The launch of the project included detailed guidance, manager toolkit and HR BP support, all brought together with interactive training sessions, to ensure the change was effectively embedded across the organisation. New ways of working and changes to workplaces are currently being rolled out, which is leading to improved employee wellbeing, engagement and retention, as well as in turn leading to improved patient care.
